Thank you for sending the photos of your shrubs. From the pictures it look like these plants are from the Cypress family.

I noticed where the shrubs are planted you have landscape with decorative stones. How is the soil underneath where the shrubs were planted?

It definitely looks like these plants are browning out. The problem could be the location. The Cypress or Cedar family can brown out in cold winters.

Go ahead and cut back the brown part of the shrubs. When you prune back, make sure you trim at an angle. Also check for new growth. New growth is the key to keeping plants alive at this time.

How long have the shrubs been in the ground? Is there a warranty on them? Let us know how you make out. Thanks again for sending photos. Have a great Friday.
